In 2011, Ruth Carol Davenport, succumbed to the vigorous fight of Breast Cancer. In 2012 her granddaughter Shauna N. Davenport found the courage and strength, character traits familiar to her grandma, to create a unique, memorable event: Drink for Pink. Although saddened beyond what words could portray, Shauna created the event as an outlet for her mourning, while simultaneously honoring Ms.Carol and her efforts to battle this cancer.
Drink for Pink is an annual event that is more than your average fundraiser. It is a celebration of life and community. It not only celebrates the legacy and life of Ms.Carol, it raises money to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC); world renowned for their treatment for cancer research, victims AND survivors. MSKCC gave their care to Ms. Carol throughout her journey.
Driven by a determination to bring awareness and pride as her grandmother would have it, Shauna has decided to switch her focus. In it's 3rd year, Drink for Pink is no longer about a personal struggle; it is about helping and being there for others. Please join us on October 5th, for the Brunch edition of Drink for Pink where we will all pay respects to those who are no longer with us and Honor their legacies.
